Self-compassion Techniques

Over the years, I have heard thousands of clients giving themselves a really hard time. Beating themselves up and coming up with all manner of reasons why they deserve it. There are a few things that the Guardians say to almost all of them.

1.     You did the best with what you had/ knew at the time.

You are a learning and evolving human being. You will always do the best you can. That’s human nature. Even if your best at the time was inaction or to hide. The key is to learn from the journey, so next time you are stronger and can do what you now expect of yourself. What did you learn? How are you stronger?

2.     There is learning in everything.

Even in moments that seem helpless, there are nuggets of soul learning. When we realise that we are souls, having a human experience. That we are here having a learning journey, for the creator. The mere experience of an event gives the creator a gift of understanding. If all you learnt from an experience is that you are stronger than you think. That you can survive anything. That is enough. Within coaching sessions, we look for the deeper learning and we celebrate the pants of it. Because when we learn, what we have learnt…. We realise that we are simple awesome!

3.     If it truly wasn’t meant to happen, the Creator would have stopped it.

If you can have faith, for just a moment. (Easier for some than others) If you can imagine that the Creator does indeed walk within us. That this incredible presence made all of the beauty on the planet. You feel into the incredible power. You feel into just how much they love you. Do you really think that they would let horrible things happen to you, unless, there was learning and growth in it? Unless it was going to lead you somewhere amazing? … Nah, trust me, they have a plan.

4.     Your Soul chooses the people you have Soul connections with, and they choose you.

Before we are born, we plan out the frame work of our life. We choose our parents, country, religion, any health issues or limitations, our socioeconomic status. Most of the time we choose our siblings and sometimes our key friends. We choose our Soul mate and children, if we are going to have them.

So if ever you think “OMG my poor children, they deserve better than this” …please stop beating yourself up. They chose you. Just focus on making the future better. And remember, in the space where they choose it, there was no ‘good or bad’, just opportunities for Soul growth. So you don’t need to worry about their ability to make healthy choices. Lol.
