Finding the Joy in life

When I was 18yrs old, I was in a dark head space. The reasons I have long forgotten but I do know what got me out of it. My mum. She sat me down and said “I know things are hard sometimes, but sometimes you just gotta focus on the good bits of life”. Being a fairly melodramatic teenager, I sobbed, “There are No good Bits”. My mother, who had the patience of a saint, just sighed and said, “there are always good bits. Small wonders, if you know where to look”

She made me sit with her and make a list of things that I would find joy in. Over the years I have added to list, but here is what I have so far. Please send me anything else you can think of. Some of these things make you feel very silly when you do them, but they are often the best medicine for the soul.
